Eric Balch

On September 24, 2012, Officer Eric Balch passed away at his home in Stafford County Virginia after a long and brave battle with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Eric Retired after 17 years as U.D. Officer. During his career Eric was the recipient of several Life Saving Awards including one for resuscitating a little girl on Christmas Eve who had been struck be a motor vehicle. Eric also was the recipient of the Valor Award presented by the Director of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge, for his efforts in attempting to save the lives of two men involved in a steam pipe explosion.

Explosive Detection Canine “Maxo”

On January 26, 2013, Explosive Detection Canine “Maxo” passed away due to injuries sustained from a fall while on a protective assignment in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Canine “Maxo” had served with Officer-Technician Duane Tomaszewski since October 2011. “Max” will be missed by all who enjoyed his gregarious personality and comical antics.
